Breckenridge Altitude Tips
Situated above 9600 feet, the Breckenridge altitude can affect anyone and everyone from lower elevations. It’s a really good idea to come prepared, as well as very hydrated! Stay healthy while you’re here with some of these tips…
1. Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate!
Drink 3-4 times more water or beverages with electrolytes than usual, no joke. Your body uses and loses a great deal of fluid up here in the mountains. The higher you go, the more water you should drink.
2. Avoid alcohol or drink in moderation
Avoid alcohol consumption or drink in moderation for the first 24 hours of your stay. Your hangover might be a little more painful than usual at this altitude…
3. Nutrients
Your body is working harder at high elevation even when resting. Give it some fuel.
4. It's ok to rest
There’s no doubt about it. You’ll feel the altitude when you’re here. Take a break if you are tired! Listen to your body. Give yourself time to acclimate to the intense climate here.
5. More oxygen
Pick up a few canisters of Boost Oxygen from a local shop or grocery store, visit Breck’s O2 Lounge or get oxygen delivery from our friends at Peak Oxygen. Peak Oxygen offers VisitBreck guests 10% off of their Oxygen Packages with promo code VBoxygen. These will help you breathe easier, on the go or at home.
